Do we have a group of people working on the Classic yet? I haven't heard anyone talking about it and its September. Just curious.
Thanks Mike Most

I just posted the schedule under a new thread. I hope all AKA members will support and help make this 20th Classic a good one. We need to find sponsors for each class trophies. So, If each one of us could try to get a sponsor, that would be soooooo great!!

What is the requested amount of money from sponsors. And what are the things that we can tell the potential sponsors the benefits are? Does the club have a tax deductible I.d.# since it's a nonprofit organization? It would be beneficial if a hand out flyer were available also. Just a few thoughts as I.M.S. is considering sponsoring a outlaw kart class. Come on everyone let's back the Holiday Classic Committee their putting this together for us ...Jonathon and Gary

Gary (and Jonathan)- thank you for your support. The amount to sponsor trophies for a class is $300. Of course we would take any amount of money to help with race promotion. I hope to get the class schedule flyers printed to hand out at the meeting Wed. and the race on the 13th. I will also have a generic "Holiday Classic" flyer to hand out to potential spectators. Denise is finalizing a letter for sponsors detailing the event. Unfortunately ours in not the type of non-profit that can be used as a straight deduction, however business can deduct this as advertising. I have sent the schedule to most all the out of area karters that I have contact with on Facebook. Anyone can feel free to share with people that I may have missed. I am getting positive responses from these folks. As usual, we are begging for volunteer help to get the track, pits, spectator area in shape for not only the classic, but our races before then.

We are again planning on coming over to support the AZ Club and looking forward to the Classic once again. I have a couple of questions though regarding the sponsor stuff....I may be able to help with a class or 2 and I would like the info sent to tim@poolfence123.com please. I also have a question regarding the NEW class on the schedule for day 2...AZ Opens...I have heard many different things regarding what will be allowed and what isn't allowed to run in this new class. I would like for someone to please POST the RULES for this class ASAP so we can all see them ahead of time to avoid any more confusion. I don't really understand why we are even messing with the open format though as I'm sure you all realize more than likely its just going to once again start dividing the open class. The past 2 years the UAS has had the largest number of entries at the Classic using the UAS rules as written. Thank You

tim... I do not understand what you are saying,,,
[ I don't really understand why WE are even messing with the open format ]
I do not belive you are on the AKA board, ,,, those decisions are made by the classic board and aka board members,,, I am sure the decision to add that class was thought out... hope to see you at the race and for you to have a good time

Al, When I said WE....I am referring to ME and other actual UAS members that have been running the open class under the UAS rules for YEARS..We have come to the Classic and run under UAS rules for many many years. Lets just call it like it is. It is obvious that someone maybe many just cant keep up with the evolution of the UAS karts and want to eliminate those that have. You and your board have not had anything called an Arizona Open division to my knowledge before. I know of a few other UAS members have gone over from Ca and ran in your open class and its always been UAS rules..not with anything excluding any motor packages because they don't fit what the locals want to run against. I think 2 events is plenty for the UAS karts anyway.

Tim, I am not totally sure of reasons, but the Holiday Classic committee was approached about adding an open class, more like the old school IKF opens. Since we try to consider all requests, it was decided to add this as AZ Opens, allowing UAS chassis specs so that if the UAS drivers want to enter in addition to the 2 UAS days. We have since moved it to Day one, so if someone wants to run the AZ Open and change engines to run UAS, they may. I understand how you might feel that this is directed toward you and the other "big dogs" of UAS, but as a committee member I can assure you it was not meant to exclude anyone. I really hope it does not decrease the UAS participation and do not believe it will. Those who run UAS regularly will do so, in my opinion,, and I have spoken to several local drivers who still plan on running the 2 UAS days as well as the other open class. So far as the sponsorship for trophies, thank you so much for considering it. It will cost approximately $300 a class to give the trophy bowls that are traditional. For that you would get your name on the trophies, and recognition from our announcer. And......a big bear hug from me, one of the committee members working on getting sponsorship. If you would like to call me at 602-920-4307 or message me on the Facebook page, we can talk more. Thanks for your and your family's support of our event for all the years you have.

I'm working and planning/plotting my entries based on your currently posted schedule. Is that correct or is something changing? The Facbook Page confirms UAS day 1 and Day 3 with the AZ Opens day 2....Please let us all know if something has changed. Your post would lead me to believe you have moved the AZ Open to day 1 unless I am misunderstanding it (very possible)
