Update –
Maricopa County Parks and Recreation and the Flood Control Department have indicated there is currently 10’ of water being held by the dam. The main gate is to remain locked all day today, they will reassess in the morning. Our track is currently dry hopefully we will still race on Saturday; however, SAFETY is and always will be first. In Arizona conditions can change so quickly, we will not run a risk for anyone when conditions are deemed unsafe.
Note - If someone decides they need to run by the area because they feel the information I am giving is incorrect and you find the main gate open, it will be because arrangements have been between Parks, Flood Control and that Concessionaire to enter for the sole purpose of accessing damage. If any member enters the park without permission from Kevin and MC-FCD, discipline action may be taken, with the possibility of suspension or expulsion from the club.
We know that you all are passionate about racing and may be wondering about this weekend, we will address the situation tomorrow as there is a forecast of more rain in the future. This information will be posted on Facebook as well, please share with anyone that does not have access to the discussion page or Facebook.
Thank you for your understanding. Denise

Update – 08/22/2014
Maricopa County Parks and Recreation (MCPR) has stated that the front gate is still locked because there is still water standing on the roads. MCPR has indicated that as an organization we can open the gates to allow members in to utilize our facility; however, AKA would be responsible for any damage to the roads.
The condition of the track at this time is not great. The ground is still extremely saturated, there is water standing on the track that would need to be pumped out (we do not have the funds to rent a pump). There is a lot of cleanup that will need to be done. There is dirt/mud and debris littering the hot grid that will need to be removed, trees that will need to be cleaned up, etc.
At this time the recommendation is we will NOT be racing as MCPR has not unlocked the gate and the board will not take the responsibility of incurring cost to the club as there are no funds available.
Next race will be September 13th – Gates will open at 8:30
We will have to schedule a cleanup day, as soon as that is done, I will post it and look forward to all of you coming out to help.
Denise
