I have started a new thread, as I don't want to be a part of the Ken, Mike drama on the other one. Ted, I would call you personally, but do not know your number You made a some statements to me that I would like to address. I am not a board member, but have worked closely with Kevin and Denise on race days and planning for the Holiday Classic. The "mess" as you called it was not in my opinion caused by the board alone, it happened for a number of reasons- water bills, electric bills, other expenses with poor kart count and support from members. Kevin facilitated a show with Spanky Spangler, granted it did not go as originally planned, but without it, the rent of $6,000 would not have been paid. So far as every show being a money loser, that is not true. Money was lost because we were not able to run shows because of the weather. The club is doing ok in catching up with bills now. Denise shares financial reports at every meeting.
As far as the Buckeye boys- I really resent you saying I or we chased them away. First of all, they were allowed to come on a race day and pay practice fees. They were told they could this twice, but during this time the area had one of the worse storms ever. You seem to imply that rain outs and cancellations were the fault of AKA. No one told them they could not come to practice. They could have come on the first race back in Sept. and "practice" for $20 I just wondered why they should race for $20, which is what you wanted them to do, when our members pay $50. And, they had no problem going to Prescott, a track they had never even seen, and pay $50 without questioning it. Some of them have hundreds of dollars, if not thousands in their equipment and you want them to pay not even half of the race entry. Is it fair to our members to give special consideration to just one group. Any other new driver who comes to race at the track, pays the entry fee.
You imply that there is drama at every AKA race. Maybe you are just hanging out with the wrong people and/or being negative. As for running on same days as PKRA- when we made up a schedule, we looked at theirs. They are the one who changed the dates. When I suggested the summer races, we looked at their days and did not schedule against them. I know nothing about what goes on there. I have friends who race at PKRA. It is a different organization with different goals, needs and expenses. I resent you or anyone else who compares the dirt track unfavorably to an asphalt track.
I respect your decision not to run for the AKA Board. If you truly feel there is no good happening in the future, that is probably best.
